Cookies
New Zealand has no separate cookie statute. The Privacy Act 2020 still applies if a cookie or similar storage collects personal information. This page lists what this site actually uses. We do not set analytics or advertising cookies. The AI assistant asks before it sets its chat-history cookie. What Accept and Decline do is in the terms. You can change that choice with “Cookie settings” in the chat panel or at the foot of the page.
On this site
kp_consent(essential). Records whether you accepted or declined the chat-history cookie, so we don’t ask on every page. It holds only “accepted” or “declined” and lasts 12 monthskp_chat(only if you accept). A first-party cookie holding a random ID and nothing else, so the AI assistant can show your chat history when you come back. It lasts 90 days from your last message. Your browser’s scripts cannot read it. It is never set before you accept, and it is deleted if you later decline- Sign-in uses no cookie. Signing in stores
kp_token,kp_email, andkp_rolein local storage on your browser. That storage is essential: it is how the site knows you are signed in. Clearing site data signs you out - No analytics and no ads. We do not load Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or other tracking scripts. If we add any later, they stay off until you can accept or reject them, and this page will name them
Other sites this page calls
- The map asks OpenFreeMap (
tiles.openfreemap.org) for map tiles. Data there is © OpenStreetMap contributors and © OpenMapTiles. We do not control that host - Icons load as a stylesheet from jsDelivr. That is a request to their network, not a Kupenga cookie
- When Google sign-in is turned on, the login and signup pages load
https://accounts.google.com/gsi/client. Google may set its own cookies during that sign-in. While Google sign-in is off, that script is not loaded
You can block cookies and site storage in your browser. Blocking local storage will stop sign-in from sticking. How we handle personal information is in the privacy statement.
